Hey everyone

I hope you are all good?  I want to ask a question to you all, but I don't want to start a fight about it ... things got a tad heated on a facebook page I'm a part of, but I genuinely want to know peoples thoughts without causing an uprising and since I know a lot of you I thought I might get some good feedback :la:

If you trace are you cheating? Is my first question but also -

If you paid for a portrait, would you be happy if the artist traced your image and didn't tell you?
Do you put as much value on a piece if it is traced?
What is your general opinion of the artist themselves?

I obviously need to give my opinion, but I'd love to hear yours too.  I just feel that if you don't do all the work yourself, you are cheating if you don't disclose that you trace your work.  I've always said this, if you trace you might be good at some sophisticated colouring in, but you are not drawing, so claiming you 'drew' something when it was traced is .... well it's just plain out telling fibs.   Just my opinion of course :giggle:

My other questions; I would be most unhappy if I paid for a drawing and it was traced.  I definitely would find the value affected and my opinion of the artist would be one of distrust and disappointment I would think, because they didn't say that they trace.

Also, if you do trace your work, do you feel good about it really?  I mean, do you feel complete satisfaction that you created your art by yourself?  That's the thing that would niggle at me always, I would never feel truly happy and satisfied in myself so I guess I find it difficult to get my head around why so many people believe it to be a valid 'tool' in their creation process.

I hope you will share your thoughts
Paula
