Bargarran Witches Curse

Description

This is my entry for the folklore contest on :icontraditional-artists:

My picture is a compilation of elements which make up the true story of the Bargarran/Paisley Witches. I live on the outskirts of Paisley, so this is a well known tale.

So whats in my drawing?
My witch (whos clothing was taken from a google searched reference, her face is my drawing).
A brick well - Is the last remaining area of the Gallow green, where the witches were hanged.
A symbolic fire - To show the burning of the witches, which also has an image of the devil incorporated as one of the witches being hanged, cursed all present and their decendants with the wrath of the devil.
The horseshoe (on the front of the well) is still in place in Paisley in the middle of a large crossroads. This is to mark the spot where the witches burned remains were buried. It is said that as long as the horseshoe remains, the curse will remain buried also.
Finally, there are a few little feathers on the ground as the cursed girl, who triggered the witch claims, was said to have regurgitated feathers, bones and sticks when taken by the curse.
I have also incorporated the Paisley pattern into the witches clothing, it is very feint, but it is there.

The drawing of the well and the horseshoe are my drawings of actual photographs, they can be found in the links above.

The drawing is on A4 Strathmore Vellum Bristol Board and is rendered in graphite. The original is a fair bit clearer, my camera is not picking it up well, this is as clear as I can get. It took somewhere in the region of 7 hours to draw. There has been no altering just a slight up in contrast to match as best I can to the original.

Any feedback is always welcome. Any Buddies around who know this tale?

????for all?????? - I drew the fire like this cos I thought it was fitting with the fantasy theme, I dont really draw fantasy so not sure. Should I make it more 'real'? Also, I left my witches hair kind of bitty as I thought it looked a bit like snakes. Better to make it more 'real' too?

HINT: If anyone is using the paper I used, it is completely unforgiving! You cannot rub out, you need to get it right first time or it is disaster area time!!! I like plain old Bristol Board best:)
