This question always comes up for every artist I'm sure ... "you can draw with references, but can you draw something original?" This isn't really something I think about too much, because I just draw whatever I want to at the time because it's what I like and enjoy. But sometimes someone wants an original drawing and this was one of those times. A drawing from my head for a commission.

Materials:
Strathmore Vellum Bristol
Graphite
Erasers
Digital Texture with thanks to - [link]
Christina *acjub your a little angel adding this for me

NOTE: This is the first time I've added a digital texture to a drawing. The drawing is the same as the original but the background has been added just for a change.

Also, should this be mixed media even although the drawing itself hasn't been altered?

Thank you very much for having a look
Paula

What a fun commission to get! Scary too though! Or at least it'd scare me. ;)
Lovely drawing, lovely pose! Did you use any sort of reference for that pose?

It was a lot of fun and very scary also

No, I didn't use any specific refs for this girl, I looked at a few over shoulder shots to get an idea of how it would look. I'm not sure I got it quite right, her shoulder is a bit wonky :(

I'm not seeing any wonk. Maybe you've just looked at it too long.

I think rather than wonky, the shoulder is too narrow or something, I'm not sure, but there's something :P

Hm... Not too narrow, I don't think... Maybe the top part could be a bit pointier compared to her rather slim arm?? Dunno...

Yeah, it could be that, I've never actually worked it out :(

Of course we do! I don't skip your work in my inbox only because it's not super-duper detailed or it's not a fan art
