Summer Soul by pbird12 Summer Soul by pbird12
This is my submission for this challenge [link] and this contest [link]

Summer Soul is named as such because the challenge is themed as Autumn and although the Autumn leaves are surrounding her, Summer lives on within.

Before I say too much, I just want to say I was given permission from [link] to draw from her gallery and if you've not seen it before .... you have too! Brilliant I love it!! Thank you again :)

Anyway, what is it? Its a terrible photo and I will try and get a better on in daylight tomorrow, the lights all weird and it doesnt look great in the photo.

Drawn on Hot Pressed Watercolour Paper, graphite, watercolour pencils, stumps, tissue, cotton buds, erasers. It took maybe 4 hours and is drawn on A4.

I saw this in a thumbnail, and it immediately captured my attention.

The detail you put into this is astounding. I can only imagine all the time you spend on it. :s

Her eyes are gorgeous. The shading around it, the detail.. beautiful. I love how the green is the only color in the picture- it (obviously) helps them stand out. :)

The leaves are a very nice touch! The detail in those, as well, is very well done. :applause:

Keep up the good work! Thanks for sharing- I'm really glad I saw this. :)

You know, I was just today thinking about drawing this again, I've learned a lot in the few months since I drew this and would like to see if it would come out very different :P

Thank you too for adding to your faves, I really appreciate it.

That's really good! I've draw the same picture a while ago and it's great how your drawing has a different effect than mine. I like that you used green for the eyes, I thought about doing this too but then refused to do so because I was afraid to ruin the whole thing. But you pulled it off beautiful!

Thank you so much for your comment, I had a peek at your drawing, its really good! It is strange how, depending on what you see, it can look so different, I love that!

The colour adding is kinda scary. I almost always draw on bristol board, but when using colour i use hot pressed water colour paper. If you decide to go for it, I found this to be much better x

If you ever fancy a draw along, please give me a shout :) Might be fun?

It's great that there are differences otherwise it would be boring.
I already tried colour on normal paper and it worked surprisingly good but I will keep my eyes open for water colour paper. It's never wrong to look for drawing stuff ;)
Do you mean that we both make a drawing from the same reference and look what the other one does with it? Sounds like fun and could be interesting. I would do that.

Yeah, definately, I agree.

Never anything wrong with buying art materials :)

Yes, I never done it before, but I liked how different we interpreted that picture and I thought it might be fun to do another. Thats great you like the idea too. If you let me know when your free or find an image you like, I'm free anytime.

I have quite a few images in my inspiring photography folde in my faves if you fancy a browse.

Thanks
Paula

I'm planning a drawing as a birthday present right now but I'm still not sure about it so if I find something different to draw (or rather have a good reason for it) I can fit this in between. If it takes longer I still can start the present and finish this one later, so it should work.

Honestly I have so many photos I want to draw that I don't even know where to start.^^ I really like [link] and [link] from your folder. I also like [link] or something different from this gallery and of course [link] . Do you know this [link] page? There are also some awesome things.

Thats brill, I'm doing some christmas gifts at the moment too, but I quite like to have a couple on the go :)

Oh my goodness the choice is just too much! Thats a brilliant site, not only is it brilliant, you sent me the link to the image I have just drawn and didnt know where to find it! Lol, I had a message on my drawing asking if anyone knew where I could find it, to let me know and there is was right on that page. Thank you!! I do hate not linking and giving credit.

I have absolutely no idea what to choose, I'm the same, I have all of the images in the photography folder and a folder on my laptop with more than 100 images in there.

Do you want to pick first and maybe, if I dont bore you and it works well, I could chose another later on?

I'm off to look at that site again :)

Plase don't remind me of christmas, I haven't even started to think about presents. XD

I know it's great. I want to draw half of the pictures from there. But I think that's impossible to do ;) It's always stupid if I use a picture without asking the person who made the photo but I always try to link back to it, at least when I still find it.

There are just too many great pictures out there!! If there would be only ten it would be so easy to chose.^^

You don't bore me and I think that's the easiest way to decide, for you anyway. For me it's tough.
I looked through my folders and the galleries and I suggest this one [link] . I also have permission from her to use her pictures so it isn't a problem.

Oh wow, thats a good one! I'm guessing pretty tricky, but really good, I like :)

Brilliant (ha ha there it is again, I didnt know that I did that), so will we do a draw along and maybe just chat if we need help or advice?

She gave me permission to draw from her gallery too ... great minds think alike indeed :)
