The Last Supper WIPs by pbird12 The Last Supper WIPs by pbird12
WIP1 - This is a commissioned drawing. It's a bit further on than this at the moment, but I need to stitch scans, so I'll do it in a day or two :) So, I guess it's pretty obvious what it is? Not my style, not the paper I love (too white for this kind of thing) but I'm so enjoying it, but to say it's intimidating is an understatement :la:

WIP2 - Still not the most up to date WIP, but my printer/scanner died and I had to get a new one :( So, it's an update at least. Things are going slowly

WIP3 - The third and final WIP. I really want to finish this soon. Sorry about the wonky photo, I will scan and stitch the finished drawing :)

I'll update WIPs here as I go
Paula

if i am allowed to make a comment
it would have been more tricky if both Jesus and st John were colored and the rest of the characters were just black and white; u know, could be Maria Magdalena...

It's coming along brilliantly. The colour is very effective on Christ.

It was thankfully just a little area where the colour was going, so no real damage, but if it had been a graphite part, it would have been a disaster :(

Hey I love the colour! You can be so proud of yourself when this is finished!!
Question: Why did you first draw a whole layer on him in WIP2 and then draw over it with colour? Or did you erase it because you changed your mind?

I wasn't sure about the colour at first, bit I like it too :) I'm going to have a lie down when it's finished :giggle:

Ah, I didn't :D The grey is a layer of frisket film that I popped on there to keep the paper clean :giggle:

haha Ok, that is a good explanation. :D Never heard of frisket film before. Or is this the same thing people use for their watercolour paintings to keep the white parts?

You can get liquid frisket, which I think is like masking fluid, that's what I'd use for watercolour. This is a clear film you can cut out to whatever shape you need, it's really good on bristol board, but not so great on fibrous paper, it lifts the fibres a little bit :(

"Intimidating" ? nothing compared to drawing with a biro! Nice work. A Challenge. Sense that in your words too. Unless you have a short deadline. (What commission doesn't!) don't get stressed. Sometimes you need to leave it, don't look at it for a couple of days, not only might it "refresh" you, you also see little things that you had not seen before, or something that you particularly like that you want to make sure you do the "same" effect over the whole of the image. For a Lady of your Talent this should be a "walk in the park." (Capital T was deliberate)

No, not as intimidating as a biro :)

I think it's just because it's Da Vinci, not so much the subject that makes it scary.

I've had a few days off from it, so I kind of just want to finish it now. It needs a few little tweaks here and there still.

Thank you for having faith :aww:
