We Are The Massacre WIP and Video by pbird12 We Are The Massacre WIP and Video by pbird12
I'm finally getting round to making the speed drawing video. This is a little start and I thought it would be a good idea to ask if the video quality looked alright before doing more? It's really tricky getting the camera at a decent angle and not getting my hands in the way!

Video Link > [link]

WIP1 - About 45 mins of drawing.
WIP2 - It turns out, I really don't like recording me drawing even one teeny bit  It's so difficult to try and not flip the paper round and round the way I normally do. So, I will keep recording but I don't think I'll do it all, I'll do each element of the drawing, but for the skin etc, once I've done one part, the rest is the same, so no point in sending everyone to sleep :)
WIP3 - I'm about 5 hours in now, I'm guessing another 10 or so to go.
WIP4 - I'll make this the last WIP now. I'm at 8-9 hours. Sorry about the dirty marks, I need to clean the scanner .. again! It's also scanning a bit weird because of all the white space, hopefully when she's done I can get a better one :)

I'll add a few more WIPs here as I go as always.
Paula

Thank you very much  If it helps, I couldn't draw very well at all until 19 months ago, you already draw very much better that I could when I joined dA. I understand that feeling so well, I had it too

I think it's very safe to say it's a temporary feeling, your drawings are lovely!

How were you doing your skin texture? Tiny circles?.. S far, most my faces have been smooth, time to branch out into the world of texture:)

It was circulism  That's pretty much what I prefer now, there's a lot more control and the texture is fun. I hope you have fun with it!

I'm not very familiar with circlisim... Heck, I'm not very familiar with much of any techniques, I just draw and stare at my drawing and think about it, till I think it looks right,..heh. :)

:giggle: instinct is a wonderful thing though! Circulism is dead easy, it just take a little bit of getting used to :) I have a really basic tutorial about it if you every fancy giving it a go :P

That wouldn't be wax flakes on your scanner by any chance?

The drawing is coming along well :)

Thanks Andy, there was sadly a small child incident with her so she looks a bit different now :( But hopefully not ruined beyond repair :)

Ah, the emotes, they're dead easy, have a look at the bottom of your message box for the emoticons link and it show you what to type :la:

For curiosities sake and because I hardly ever use pencil/graphite why the fan brush? I take it you use it for a smudging/shading effect? I'll check out the video and find out the answer lol. Have a good one. :)

Hiya, thank you for having a look :) I have to break it to you, the brush is a very unexciting thing, I use it to brush away eraser bits without smudging my drawing :giggle:

Hahaha... I was wondering what a fan brush was used for in relation to pencil/graphite so thanks for clearing that up for me. I like to use them in my painting so have a few laying around and was intrigued by the possibility of non painting application. Clearly not though, thanks for clearing that up. :)

haha I didnt realise that I did it whilst drawing until my boyfriend said about it a few years ago either.. haha.. I doubt people who don't have it will notice. lol.. I wonder how many times our dodgy thumbs have assisted us without us noticing .. I bet we do it a lot whilst drawing without even realising. lol :D xx

I really love the way is turns out. The intensity is already there.
I fyou let me, just one point about the skin texture : I always love and admire the look and feel you give to it, and at the same time in some parts my eye catches it a smigeon too contrasted. Is it a scanner effect on a smoother real life look, or do you like it that way? :?

Thank you

The skin is pretty textured, but the scanner seems to have picked out all the tiny highlights and made them :wow: My scanner is not my friend sometimes :(

I hope once the white space is covered, it will scan normally .. she's much less intense and more smooth in reality, thank you for pointing it out, I appreciate it :huggle:
